Adamawa: PDP LG Congress Free, Fair, Peaceful – Committee Chairman

From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Local Government Congresses Monitoring Committee in Adamawa State, Hon. David Lorhemba, has described the congresses conducted on Saturday across the 21 local government areas as “free, fair, and peaceful.”

Lorhemba, a former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, made the remark during an interview with journalists in Girei Local Government Area, where he expressed satisfaction with the process, noting that most of the congresses were held through a consensus approach.

He commended party members across the state for their maturity, orderliness, and cooperation in ensuring a rancor-free exercise, lauding stakeholders for embracing consensus in line with the PDP’s democratic spirit.

The committee chairman further praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his leadership role in uniting the party, adding that his inclusive style of governance has strengthened the PDP both at the state and grassroots levels.

According to him, such unity is what the party needs to remain formidable ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Some political analysts in the state also viewed the successful completion of the PDP’s ward and local government congresses as a strategic step towards consolidating the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 polls.

Our correspondent reports that with the two congresses concluded, attention has now shifted to the forthcoming State Congress scheduled for next Saturday, where new state executive officials are expected to emerge.

Meanwhile, the Appeal Committee will commence sittings on Sunday to receive and hear any petitions arising from the local government congresses.
