NSCDC Moves to Shield Gombe’s Dadin Kowa Dam
From Abubakar Rabilu Gombe
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has pledged stronger security measures to protect the Dadin Kowa Dam, a vital national asset in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area.
State Commandant, Jibrin Idris, gave the assurance during a security assessment visit to the facility.
He held discussions with officials of Mabon Ltd, operators of the hydro power plant, and the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority (UBRDA) on existing security challenges.
Idris cautioned against scavenging and vandalism, stressing that the protection of critical infrastructure demands cooperation among security agencies, traditional rulers, and local communities.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Sa’ad, the Commandant also visited the Emir of Yamaltu, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, to seek royal support in sensitizing residents against activities that threaten national assets.
He was accompanied by senior officers from the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Unit, divisional officers from Yamaltu and Deba, as well as personnel from the Anti-Vandal Unit.
