From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna

The Network of Peace Journalists (NPJ) has lauded Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Peacecore for organizing a three-day media training workshop in Kaduna, designed to strengthen the role of journalists in peacebuilding reportage.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, NPJ Team Leader, Ibrahima Yakubu, said the training brought together journalists from diverse media organizations and equipped them with modern techniques in fact-checking and verification of both text and visual content.

He explained that participants were also trained on the use of digital media in peacebuilding and communication for development (C4D), noting that the skills acquired would help journalists promote peace, unity, and stability in their communities.

Yakubu commended the facilitators and media experts for their commitment to building capacity in digital tools and urged participants to apply the lessons learned, particularly in strengthening fact-checking and adopting peace-oriented reporting practices.
