Kano Veteran Journalist Aliyu Getso Passes On

Kano veteran journalist, Aliyu Abubakar Getso, has passed away in the early hours of Sunday, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence in journalism.

His funeral prayer was conducted at 9:30 a.m. at his residence in Janbulo Quarters, Kano, after which he was laid to rest according to Islamic rites at Dandolo Cemetery.

Malam Getso popularly referred to as ‘Baba Getso’ was widely known for his contributions to the media industry in Kano.

Over the years, he worked with several prominent radio stations, serving in various editorial and translation roles.

His career spanned Radio Kano, Freedom Radio, Vision FM, and Premier Radio, where he earned respect for his professionalism, eloquence, and commitment to ethical journalism.

Colleagues and listeners remember him as a humble, principled, and passionate journalist whose voice and insight enriched the media landscape of Kano State.
