DSP Barau’s Push For Consolidation of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope in Health Sector
From Abba Anwar
In his unwavering and unmatched effort towards the consolidation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the health sector, the Deputy Senate President, Barau I. Jibrin, CON, initiated seven (7) major projects at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), in Kano.
To avoid any confusion and misinformation about his original intent, he categorically made it clear during an inspection visit of the projects yesterday, that, “These projects are a testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s healthcare system through the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The Distinguished Senator, is, without any hesitation, one of the leading politicians from the North, who consistently and persistently display their genuine support to President Tinubu’s deserving policies for national development. Renewed Hope Agenda inclusive.
To him, he made it very clear that, his intervention with such signature projects are tandem with Tinubu’s good policy. No wonder the Senator goes left, right and centre to nooks and crannies of the North creating awareness for the present administration.
He said, “I was at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) to inspect seven mega projects I initiated at the hospital in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on healthcare delivery in the country.”
The mega and signature projects are the construction and equipping of Cardiothoracic Centre, construction of roads at College of Health Sciences, BUK (AKTH Premises), construction of Students’ Hostel at College of Nursing Sciences, interlocking of Department of Radiology, interlocking of S. S. Wali Centre, interlocking of Speciality Clinic Annexe, construction of classrooms and offices at School of Health Information Management (SHIM), and construction and equipping of Paediatric Complex.
All the projects brought to AKTH as DSP’s part of intervention in the health sector, run into Billions of Naira. In the history of the hospital since its establishment decades ago, there was no single politician who did half of, or similar gigantic effort currently being executed by Senator Barau.
No wonder, this gentleman becomes one of the closest politicians of repute and foresight, who are so dear to Mr President and the Presidency, in the present dispensation. Apart from unalloyed support and cooperation from his Distinguished colleagues at the National Assembly. His match, not only in Kano, but across the North, if not the nation, can only be identified and counted on finger tips.
Barau’s love for his people and their progress is always undiluted, enhanced, considerate, well articulate, direct and open to guard against unguided leadership. With people like him in the North, who always believes in championing and amplifying the good work of the present administration, 2027 challenge could be at safe landing speed.
While the able Deputy Senate President is firmly rooted, in the true and genuine sense of the word, his direct link with the grassroot encouraged by his understanding of national politics and global touch, set aside localisation feeling in him. He feels, he believes and he understands the difference between championing a local cause with national influence and application of global texture.
To give him an institutional courage and intended support, he was accompanied, to the inspection sites at AKTH by other Distinguished colleagues from the Senate, including the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, Senator Muntari Dandutse; Chairman of the Senate Committee on North West Development Commission, Senator Babangida Hussaini and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abdulhamid Malam-Madori.
Looking at the team that accompanied him from the hallowed Chamber to AKTH, the composition alone speaks volumes about the support he enjoys from his colleagues. It also says much on how entrenched he is in the confidence reposed in him by the Senate. All the Distinguished colleagues who followed him to the inspection visit are high ranking Senators of acknowledged repute.
To further amplified Tinubu’s effort in the health sector, Senator Barau used the opportunity to identify with the cardinal thrust of the administration. He said, “What we are doing now, in terms of trying to further develop, make AKTH an advanced, specialised hospital, is in tune with the desire of the President. One of President Tinubu’s cardinal programmes is to ensure a sound healthcare delivery system at a specialised level.”
Legislative intent is also re-echoed by the hardworking Senator. As he disclosed that, ” The National Assembly will continue to enact the necessary legislation to support the President’s determination to transform the country’s healthcare delivery system into one of the best in Africa.”
The nationally relevant and globally acquainted legislator, Deputy Senate President, Barau, in his effort and determination to
build a sound healthcare system and understanding medical needs of the citizenry, position him to be above board in his legislative responsibilities.
It is worthy to note that, the construction of Students’ Hostel at College of Nursing Sciences and construction of classrooms and offices at School of Health Information Management (SHIM), tell us more about his deeply entrenched love for educating our population. He still maintains that, man is the centre of development. Always education, education and education Now health, health and health. Very reserved, organized, down to earth and calculative.
What is more fascinating is how people from many places are making good comments about the AKTH interventions from the DSP. On his Facebook page, I deduced a few comments out of hundreds upon hundreds of comments, wishing him good health, prosperity and good years ahead.
It is there, open and public for all to go and see, his Facebook page on this AKTH interventions he got thousands of Likes and hundreds of Shares. Some handful few are given below.
One Mahmud Abubakar said in his comment, “Masha Allah,” Umar Baba said “Hardworking, dedicated and committed Senator, towards achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President,” Murtala Magaji Isah opined that, “The capacitated (sic) Senator and governor to be In Sha Allah. You made all (sic) possible to make North a (sic) great again, while Kabiru Adamu Iliyasu commented, ” Aikin ka da wakilcin ka su na kyau. A ci gaba da kawo mana wasu aiyukan cigaban Kano da Kanawa (meaning, your representation and work are impressive. Go ahead with your interventions for the progress of Kano and Kano people).
For Musa Shuaibu Gajida, he acknowledged that, “Masha Allah. Congratulations people of Kano state,” as Musa’ab Sulaiman Adam said, “Barau I. Jibrin yana dai zuba aiyuka a Kano. Maganar gaskiya muna maka fatan alheri (meaning, Barau I. Jibrin is doing well in Kano. We wish you all the best), while Abdullahi Yakasai said, “We really appreciate your unwavering commitment and dedication for a better and healthy environment in the (sic) Kano Health Sector, particularly at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. Where we are witnessing the reality of the project and road construction. Thank you Distinguished DSP Barau I Jibrin.”
Others are Hon Maigari Dauda Ikara, who says ” Allah Ya maka governor Kano (meaning, may Allah make you the governor of Kano state), Ummu Yargwal says “Good job 💯” as Ibrahim Dalhatu’s comment says “Barau your love for BUK is unmatched. We BUKITES really love you,” while Ahmed G. Ngulde opines that, “Sir you are good in building (sic) future of less privileged” and Aminu Abdullahi chooses to say “Gwamnan Kanawa na gobe In Sha Allah (meaning the next governor of Kano people, God’s Willing.”
Senator Barau’s genuine interventions in many sectors mean a lot in his resolve to inject hope hope into the souls of our people. Not only those coming from his primary constituency. He so much believes in the state as one political entity. His good work does not stop at his constituency alone. He sees beyond his nose. He is a state element, national figure, regional influencer and a global citizen.
