The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has elected the Tournament Director of the Kano Dala Hard Courts Tennis Championship, Alhaji Yusuf Datti, as its Vice President for the next four years.

Datti, who had earlier been elected as the North-West Zonal Representative to the board of the federation under the supervision of the National Sports Commission (NSC) during the zonal election held in Kaduna last September, secured his new position during the national election.

The election, conducted last Saturday at the Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, also saw the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, emerge as President in a landslide victory.

Alhaji Yusuf Datti, who also serves as the Registrar of Khalifah Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), polled 12 out of 14 votes to clinch the Vice Presidency, while Victor Ochei garnered 11 votes to become NTF President.

Reacting to his election, the newly elected Vice President expressed appreciation to the federation members for the confidence reposed in them to lead one of Nigeria’s most vibrant sports bodies.

Datti also commended the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Alhaji Shehu Dikko, and the Director-General, Mr. Olapade, for their unwavering commitment to the development of sports across the country.

He further called on corporate organizations, philanthropists, and political leaders to partner with the federation in promoting and developing tennis nationwide.

Yusuf Datti also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his dedication to advancing sports development and promoting youth engagement through various sporting initiatives.
