Yobe farmers receive subsidized fertilizers against 2023 cropping season

From Hamisu Ado Nguru

One of the cardinal objectives of our administration is to increase the aggregate agricultural output towards achieving food sufficiency and security and commodity exports for the improved well-being of our people.

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni made the disclosure while flagging off the fertilizer sales and distribution for the 2023 cropping season in Damaturu, recently.

Buni disclosed that the State Government procured the fertilizer at N25,000 per bag and would be sold to the farmers at N13,000 per bag.

He equally appealed to beneficiaries of the palliative to ensure that they appreciate the government’s gesture by making proper use of the commodity and avoiding its resale.

“Government would not condone any act of sabotage through diversion or hoarding of the product to create unnecessary hardship to our people” Buni warned.

The Governor explained that about 80 per cent of the State population is engaged in both crop and livestock farming.

Adding that, his administration has remained committed to exploring more avenues for the enhancement of agricultural productivity as the main stimulus for providing employment, self-reliance and income generation to the farming population.
