Kano: Foundation Distributes 1,000 Packs of Tom Brown to Fight Malnutrition

By Aisha Abubakar Mai Agogo

In a renewed push to curb rising cases of malnutrition in rural communities, the Community Support and Development Initiative (CSADI) has distributed 1,000 packs of Tom Brown to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children across several communities in Kano State.

During a follow-up visit to Bebeji town, Tariwa, Durmawa in Bebeji Local Government Area and Gun Dutse in Kura Local Government Area, the CSADI team also sensitized hundreds of mothers on basic health practices and trained them on effective nutrition management. The outreach formed part of the organization’s ongoing effort to strengthen community-level interventions against child malnutrition.

After paying a courtesy visit to the District Head of Bebeji, Alhaji Sarki Yusuf Bayero, the team assessed improvements recorded among 10 children— including sets of twins— who were earlier identified with severe nutritional deficiencies. The District Head commended the initiative and offered prayers for the success and sustainability of the project.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude over the positive changes.

A mother, Hassan Jibril, said her twins have now fully recovered and are healthier after receiving support from the programme. Likewise, a father, Rabi’u Yakubu of Bebeji, appreciated the gesture and testified to the significant improvement in his child’s condition.

Executive Director of CSADI, Hajiya Zainab Ahmad Sulaiman, MFR, described malnutrition-related child deaths as a major threat, calling for continuous community awareness and stronger support systems to protect vulnerable children and women.
