Ganduje Unveils Plan to Establish Independent Hisbah Commission
Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced plans to create an Independent Hisbah Commission to support the 12,000 Hisbah officers recently dismissed by the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Ganduje disclosed the initiative on Tuesday while receiving the report of a committee he constituted to review the plight of the affected officers. The dismissed personnel include members of the Hisbah Corps, Hisbah Marshal, and the Advisory Unit.
According to him, the proposed Independent Hisbah Commission will operate under the Ganduje Foundation and will focus on sustaining religious and moral enforcement duties previously carried out by the officers. “This Independent Hisbah Commission will be established under the Ganduje Foundation,” Ganduje said.
The committee, chaired by former Commander of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Dr. Haruna Ibn Sina, also includes the former Managing Director of KAROTA, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, alongside other senior scholars.
Their report contains extensive findings and recommendations on restoring the roles of the dismissed officers and creating a stable and sustainable future for them.
