Kano State Govt To Construct Model Cities Of 1,800 Houses In 36 Rural LGAs

Kano State Government says it will construct model cities of 1,800 houses in 36 rural local government areas of the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director Public Enlightenment of the state Ministry of Housing Development, Malam Adamu Abdullahi.
The statement said the State Commissioner of Housing Development, Arc Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, disclosed this during a meeting with a delegation of the Jigawa State Government in his office, adding that all modalities had been set for the project.
Arc Adamu stated that each of the local government areas would have 50 housing units and provided with basic infrastructure amenities.
He said the project was part of the campaign promises of His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to provide a befitting housing unit in each of the local government areas and equipped with modern infrastructure facilities.
Such facilities,he said, included schools, police stations, clinics, water and electricity with a view to making the Estates meet the international standard.
He said the Ministry of Housing Development would build the houses, while the Ministry of Rural and Community Development would provide access roads and drainage within the housing units.
The Commissioner further disclosed that over 100 Developers Firms had presented their profiles seeking to enter private partnership with the State Government.
Out of the number,he said,about 60 firms both local and international had been shortlisted and would be considered with a view to providing decent and affordable housing to the people of the state.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Surveyor Abdullahi Hassan, who doubles as the Permanent Secretary Jigawa State Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning, told the Commissioner that they were in Kano on a study tour of some ministries and agencies with a view to tapping from their wealth of experience.
Surveyor Hassan commended the efforts of the Kano State Government under His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, saying that the state is witnessing tremendous infrastructure transformation under his administration.
He urged the state government through the Commissioner to maintain the brotherly relations between the two sister states.
