Kano State Executive Council Okays N38.7 Billion For Development Projects

The Kano State Executive Council has approved the sum of ₦38,698,282,407.94 for the execution of various development projects and commitments across the state.

The council approved the figure at its 35th meeting presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during the week.

The state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya,said the funds would be spent in the education, health, agriculture,Security,Works and Infrastructure,Water Resources and Land and Urban Development sectors.

In the Education sector, Waiya said, the council approved ₦1,698,450,267.36 for
the settlement of outstanding obligations to boarding schools suppliers covering the 5th to 11th weeks of the first term of the 2025/2026 academic session, and
₦369,966,355.00 for the general rehabilitation of Government Secondary School, Mariri.

“Furthermore, approval was granted for the procurement of 50,000 units of crate bags for both primary and secondary school students across the state at the cost of ₦375,000,000.00.

“In addition, Council approved ₦1,329,700,162.60 for the relocation and reconstruction of Maikwatashi and Danwaire Primary Schools to Gama C in Nassarawa Local Government Area, under the Ministry of Education,” he said.

For the Works and Infrastructure Sector, the Commissioner further disclosed,the council approved ₦171,484,811.76 for the construction of Panda–Hamdullahi–Albasu–Sakwayen Dutse Road in Albasu Local Government Area,₦111,756,366.31 for the rehabilitation of Gani Earth Dam in Sumaila Local Government Area, and the determination and re-award of the contract for the construction of Gwarzo–Tsaure–Tsanyawa Road at ₦16,296,423,440.53, among others.

“In the water sector, Council approved ₦182,123,135.25 for the construction of a water pipeline project from Hotoro Flyover to Hotoro ARTV Communities. It also approved ₦577,379,925.00 for the settlement of debt incurred for the supply of 100,000 litres of diesel (AGO) and outstanding KEDCO energy bills.

“Furthermore, Council approved ₦398,257,991.20 for the execution of the 2025 Abba Kabir Yusuf Reach-Out Water Supply Projects to underserved communities across the state, Phase II.

“In the Health Sector,Council approved ₦318,161,919.90 for renovation works and the provision of equipment at Lamba Primary Healthcare Centre in Bichi Local Government Area, under the Ministry of Health,to enhance healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

“These approvals and policy decisions clearly demonstrate the commitment of the Kano State Government to inclusive development, infrastructure renewal, human capital development and improved service delivery across all sectors,” Waiya added.
