Explosion Hits Kebbi General Hospital

The Police Command in Kebbi State has confirmed an explosion that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the General Hospital, Bagudu, in Bagudu Local Government Area.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, as reported by Daily Nigeria Newspaper.
According to Usman, a joint security team comprising police officers and vigilante personnel swiftly secured the affected area.
“We want to assure all residents of the area of full control over the security situation following a loud explosion at the General Hospital, Bagudu, in the early hours of Tuesday, Dec. 30,” he said.
He added that specialist EOD-CBRN teams are on-site conducting a thorough assessment.
Mr. Usman also confirmed that there were no casualties, but a building in the staff quarters was damaged, adding that the occupants had been successfully evacuated.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state has reinforced the area with additional tactical deployments to maintain public order,” he added.
The police spokesperson further stated that the Commissioner of Police assured the general public that a detailed investigation is ongoing.
“We urge the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate vicinity to support ongoing security and investigative operations,” he said.
He concluded that further updates will be provided as necessary.
