Thuggery, Phone Snatching Becoming History In Kano – CP

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State,Dr.Ibrahim Adamu Bakori,says thuggery and phone robbery that have bedeviled the state capital for some time,have been drastically reduced due to the measures deployed by the State Police Command.

CP Bakori stated this while briefing journalists on the achievements recorded by the command during the outgoing year,2025.

“Today, the issue of thuggery and mobile phones robbery is becoming a history with the successful implementation of Operation Kukan Kura,” he said.

He also disclosed that farmers and herders clashes had been surmounted during the period.

“We must appreciate the fact that with the drastic reduction in crimes across the state, the latter is experiencing wave of peace and security, needed for both political and economic stability of the nation at large,” the commissioner said.

He listed the measures employed to include enhanced community policing engagements,Intelligence-led policing,regular capacity building in form of training and retraining programmes for officers in areas of Administration, Operations, Investigation and intelligence.

Others,he said, were synergy with other security agencies, especially in Joint Border Patrols and operationalization and expansion of Cybercrime Unit.

The rest the commissioner said,were massive public enlightenment and sensitization in the mass media on the need for members of the public to partner with the police in crime fighting through volunteering of credible information,as well as the Launching of “Operation Kukan Kura.”

Other achievements of the command in the outgoing year he further disclosed,were the arrest of 3,081 suspects for major crimes across 78 Police Divisions, 11 Area Cominands, and 7 Tactical Units under the command.

Bakori said operations involving the Command’s Departments of Operations, Investigation and Intelligence were conducted during which firearms, dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, stolen properties and other exhibits were recovered from the suspects.
