NYA Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment at All Kano Youth Conference
The Northern Youth Assembly (NYA), also known as Majalisar Matasan Arewa, has reiterated its commitment to empowering young people in Kano State to become self-reliant and actively contribute to the development of the state.
The organisation made this known during a one-day All Kano Youth Conference held on Monday at Northwest University, Kano.
Speaking at the event, the National Secretary of NYA, Dr. Hafiz Garba, said sustainable development can only be achieved when youths move beyond complaints and begin to offer practical solutions to societal challenges. He urged young people to embrace responsibility, unity and innovation in shaping their future.
Dr. Garba noted that the conference was aimed at stimulating ideas and dialogue that would translate into actionable policies for the development of Kano State.
The conference, themed “Setting the Agenda for the Development of Kano State,” featured a keynote address by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya. He challenged youths to rise up and build meaningful lives for themselves and the society at large.
According to the commissioner, integrity, dedication, determination and self-discipline are essential ingredients for a fulfilling life. He also advised youths to exercise patience and adopt strategic planning in the pursuit of their goals.
The event drew participants from various sectors, including representatives of security agencies such as the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Academics, student union leaders, youth and women groups, as well as media practitioners, were also in attendance.
A major highlight of the conference was the presentation of Awards of Honour to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, and other distinguished businessmen and administrators, in recognition of their contributions to youth development and governance.
