N9.9 Billion Allocated for President Tinubu, VP Shettima’s Food, Trips in 2026 Budget

A total of N9,364,349,417 has been allocated in the 2026 fiscal year for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s food, refreshments, and both local and international travels.

This was contained in detailed information on the 2026 Appropriation Bill released by the Budget Office of the Federation on Thursday.

President Tinubu had earlier presented the N58.18 trillion budget proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 19, 2025, emphasizing that national security remains the bedrock of investment, economic growth, and stability.

According to the 2,790-page budget document sighted by Saturday PUNCH, N3.2 trillion was earmarked for Defence, N1.1 trillion for Power, and N2.3 trillion for the Education sector. The Senate passed the Appropriation Bill for second reading on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, paving the way for further legislative scrutiny.

Additional details revealed that the Federal Government will spend N2.1 trillion on Health and Social Welfare, N1.4 trillion on Agriculture and Food Security, and N1 trillion on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The proposal further showed that President Tinubu will spend N7,014,596,511 on local and international travels, and N431,620,183 on foodstuffs, catering materials, supplies, meals, and refreshments.

Vice President Shettima is allocated N1,732,106,437 for local and foreign trips, and N186,026,286 for foodstuffs, catering materials, supplies, refreshments, and meals.

A breakdown of the travel costs shows that President Tinubu will spend N873,886,689 on local travels and B6,140,709,822 on foreign trips. The Vice President will spend N417,488,198 on local trips and N1,314,618,239 on international travels.

The document also revealed that the President will spend N65.77 million on honorarium and sitting allowances, while N895 million was earmarked for the purchase of library books and equipment.

In addition, N179 million was budgeted for vehicle purchases, N778.6 million for office furniture and fittings, and N1.342 million for health and medical equipment.

Another N89.504 million was set aside for the ongoing procurement of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for both the President and the Vice President.
