Rabi’u Adamu Memorial Islamic School, located in G.R.A, Gombe, has held its first-ever Qur’an graduation ceremony, marking a major milestone since its establishment.
Founded under the guidance of Imam Abdullateef Sheikh Modibbo Tukur (R.T.A.), the school began with only eight students and has now expanded to over 300, reflecting its rapid growth and acceptance in the community.
Delivering a lecture at the event, Malam Muhammad Tukur Abdullahi, a lecturer at Federal University Kashere, spoke on the concept of Waqafi and emphasized proper adherence to Qur’anic recitation rules.
Civil society activist Ibrahim Yusuf 3000 commended the school’s efforts in promoting Islamic knowledge, describing the Qur’an as the greatest inheritance parents can give their children.
Also, Professor Shamsuddeen Ilyas, Director of the Institute of Islamic Research, Gombe State University, lauded the commitment of teachers and performance of students.
Other dignitaries, including Professor Sani Manga, Alhaji Imamu Jauro Dan-Lawan, and Alhaji Ahmadu Shuaibu Gara, praised the school’s progress and appealed for government and public support to improve facilities and learning materials.
Despite its growth, the head of the school, Imam Abdullateef Modibbo Tukur, said the institution still faces challenges such as inadequate classroom furniture and instructional materials and called for assistance from philanthropists and leaders.
A total of 19 students five males and fourteen females successfully completed the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an, making the event a remarkable milestone for the school and the Muslim community in Gombe.
