Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has held a strategic meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to discuss critical security concerns and key infrastructure projects in the state.
The closed-door meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between Kano State and the Federal Government, particularly in addressing rising insecurity in parts of the state and accelerating major development initiatives.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf formally briefed President Tinubu on pressing challenges facing Kano, including recent security incidents in some local government areas.
The governor drew the President’s attention to the recent killing of a housewife and her children, describing the incident as tragic and underscoring the urgent need for enhanced federal support to bolster security operations and safeguard lives and property.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing conventional security agencies and called for deeper synergy with federal security institutions to improve intelligence sharing and operational effectiveness.
On development, the governor outlined Kano’s infrastructure agenda, with emphasis on mega projects aimed at driving economic growth and job creation.
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road project, describing it as a critical step towards improving connectivity and unlocking economic opportunities.
He further sought the President’s support in fast-tracking other federal projects and ensuring Kano derives maximum benefit from national programmes and investments.
In his response, President Tinubu assured Governor Yusuf of the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with Kano State to address security challenges and promote sustainable development.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with subnational governments in advancing national stability and inclusive growth.
