Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (HOD), the Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), aligning herself with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.
Her defection was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.
Amina HOD, described as a key figure in the Kwankwasiyya grassroots movement, said her decision to join the APC was driven by a commitment to the “Kano First” ideology and the desire to contribute to the state’s development and peaceful coexistence.
The statement said the development reflects what it described as Kano’s ongoing political transformation under Governor Yusuf, adding that the administration remains focused on governance, development, and service delivery.
According to the release, commissioners overseeing strategic ministries have reaffirmed their loyalty to the governor, while the state government continues to function effectively, with policies being formulated and implemented and projects ongoing across the state.
The government dismissed reports suggesting instability within the administration, describing them as misleading and politically motivated. It maintained that the cabinet remains functional and committed to the governor’s development agenda.
The statement reaffirmed that the Yusuf administration would remain focused on its mandate, operate within the rule of law, and continue to serve the people of Kano State without distraction.
