The Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji (Dr.) Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi has approved the appointment of key security stakeholders in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the restoration of peace and security in Yobe State, particularly within the Damaturu Emirate Council.
Those appointed include the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor of Yobe State, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), Ph.D., who is the Zannah Nziliwoma of Damaturu Emirate Council, and the State Commander, Hunters Group, Idrissa Buba, the Zannah Girdima of Damaturu Emirate Council.
Addressing the gathering, the Emir of Damaturu said the appointments were based on the appointees’ unwavering commitment and proven efforts in restoring and sustaining peace and security in the state, with particular emphasis on Damaturu Emirate.
“Their dedication, sacrifices, and continuous support to security operations have greatly contributed to the peace currently being enjoyed in our communities,” the Royal Father stated.
Also speaking, the Sardaunan Damaturu, Alhaji Mohammed Arabi, commended the Emir for the timely and well-deserved appointments, describing them as a reflection of visionary leadership. He equally appreciated the efforts of the appointees in safeguarding lives and property across the emirate.
Alhaji Mohammed Arabi used the opportunity to appeal to the Yobe State Governor for the rehabilitation of the Emir’s Palace and the central mosque, noting their historical, cultural, and religious significance to the people of Damaturu.
In his remarks, the Commander 27 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General U. Ahmad, said the appointments would further boost the morale of security personnel and community-based security groups in the fight against insecurity. He emphasized that security agencies are working in synergy with the traditional institution and local hunters to maintain lasting peace in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Brigadier General U. Ahmad expressed gratitude to the Emir for the confidence reposed in them and assured the Royal Father and residents of Damaturu Emirate of their continued commitment to supporting security efforts and protecting lives and property.
The event attracted traditional title holders, security officials, and members of the community, who described the development as a significant step towards strengthening peace, unity, and security within the emirate.
