From Umar Dankano, Yola
The Minister of State for the Ministry of Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari, has advocated for stronger partnership and collaboration between the Federal and State Governments to ensure the delivery of projects with direct impact on Nigerians across the country.
Maigari made the call in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on Monday, while presiding over the official commissioning of several infrastructure projects completed and handed over to the Adamawa State Government by the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
The Minister, who was accompanied by senior NEDC officials, including the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Goni Alkali, members of the NEDC Board of Directors led by Major General Paul Tarfa (rtd), and the Adamawa State Head of Civil Service, Pharm. Isah Shehu Ardo, emphasized that sustainable development can only be realized through a shared vision and effective coordination of resources.
He affirmed that the projects align seamlessly with the Commission’s statutory mandate and resonate strongly with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes critical infrastructure development as a catalyst for national growth and improved citizens’ welfare.
“These projects were carefully designed to improve access to quality education, healthcare, empowerment, potable water supply, shelter, and good road networks, among others.
This is the third state we are visiting in the ongoing series of facility inspections and commissioning of completed NEDC projects in the zone, after Bauchi and Gombe States,” Maigari stated.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, noted that the Commission consistently prioritizes projects with direct impact on the lives of people in various communities.
Alkali expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed by the contractors handling the commissioned projects and urged community members to safeguard them for the collective benefit of their people.
Projects completed and commissioned include the Mega School in Guyuk, the rehabilitated Skills Acquisition Centre in Guyuk, a 1.1-kilometre road linking staff quarters and the academic arena at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, the 1.5-kilometre General Paul Tarfa Road in Garkida, Gombi LGA, the newly constructed Government Secondary School, Garkida, and the water scheme upgrade for the School of Nursing and Midwifery, among others.
Other projects inspected during the three-day facilities tour include the ultra-modern Accident and Emergency (A&E) complex and the state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facility at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, the Skills Acquisition Centre in Mayo-Belwa, and the upgrade of a Primary Health Centre, among others.
