The Kano State Government has expressed deep concern over what it described as a reckless and unfounded allegation by Alhaji Buba Galadima, who claimed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf wrote to the Federal Government seeking to prevent Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from visiting Kano State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed the allegation as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension in the state.
The statement stressed that at no time did the Kano State Government write to the Federal Government or any authority to restrict Senator Kwankwaso or any Nigerian citizen from entering the state. It described the claim as a figment of the imagination of its sponsors and urged the public to disregard it.
“Kano State remains a peaceful and law-abiding state where the constitutional rights of every citizen, including freedom of movement and association, are respected and protected,” the statement read.
Comrade Waiya reiterated that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is focused on governance, service delivery, and the welfare of the people, rather than being distracted by petty political controversies.
He lamented that instead of engaging in constructive political dialogue, some individuals have resorted to spreading baseless allegations capable of overheating the polity. “Dragging the Federal Government into local political narratives without evidence is irresponsible and unacceptable,” the statement added.
The state government called on Alhaji Buba Galadima to provide credible evidence of his claims or withdraw the statement in the interest of peace and political maturity. It further advised public figures to weigh their words carefully and consider the consequences of misinformation.
The statement concluded with an assurance that the Kano State Government remains committed to peace, unity, and the protection of democratic rights. “No amount of political provocation will distract the government from delivering on its mandate,” it affirmed.
