The Founder and Chairman of the Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has called on Muslims and stakeholders across Nigeria and beyond to intensify acts of worship, charity, and humanitarian service during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a powerful Ramadan message released on behalf of his foundation, Professor Gwarzo described the sacred month as a period of spiritual renewal, moral discipline, and collective responsibility toward the less privileged in society.
According to him, Ramadan is not only about fasting from food and drink but about strengthening faith, deepening compassion, and translating religious values into concrete actions that uplift humanity.
“True faith is reflected in how we care for widows, orphans, the displaced, and those struggling to survive. Charity in Islam is not a favor but a trust and responsibility placed upon us by Allah,” he stated.
Emphasis on Education and Moral Development
Professor Gwarzo stressed that education remains a critical tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and social exclusion. He urged individuals, institutions, and development partners to invest more in quality education, moral training, and skills development, particularly for young people and vulnerable groups.
He noted that empowering youths with sound morals and practical competencies is essential for building a peaceful, productive, and God-conscious society.
“When we educate and train our children with values and skills, we are securing the future of our nation and strengthening our moral foundation,” he added.
Call for Support to IDPs and Disaster Victims
The foundation’s chairman also drew attention to the growing humanitarian challenges facing Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and victims of natural disasters across the country.
He called for coordinated initiatives to provide food, shelter, healthcare, and psychosocial support to affected communities, in line with the teachings and example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who was known for his exceptional generosity, especially during Ramadan.
“This is the time to extend our hands to those forced from their homes and those whose livelihoods have been destroyed by floods, conflicts, and other disasters,” he said.
Encouraging Collective Action
Professor Gwarzo urged religious leaders, civil society groups, private sector players, and philanthropists to collaborate in sustaining humanitarian and empowerment programmes that restore dignity and promote self-reliance.
He emphasized that meaningful development requires shared responsibility and long-term commitment, rather than temporary relief efforts.
“This Ramadan, let us move beyond rituals to real impact. Let our fasting soften our hearts, our prayers strengthen our resolve, and our charity transform communities,” he stated.
Prayer for Peace and Prosperity
Concluding his message, Professor Gwarzo prayed for divine acceptance of worship and good deeds, while asking Allah to grant relief to the afflicted, strength to the weak, and wisdom to leaders and youths.
He expressed hope that the holy month would usher in peace, unity, and renewed dedication to service across the country.
“May this Ramadan bring healing to our nation, hope to the hopeless, and prosperity to our people,” he said.
The Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation has continued to play an active role in humanitarian assistance, education support, youth empowerment, and community development initiatives across Nigeria.
