In its continued efforts to restore peace and harmony in the North-East, troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with local vigilantes, have arrested a suspected logistics supplier to Boko Haram insurgents in Visik Village, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Media Information Officer of OPHK in charge of the North-East, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed this development in a press release issued on Thursday. He stated that troops of Sector 4 under the 28 Task Force Brigade apprehended Ismail Muhammad, 28, for allegedly serving as a logistics supplier to Boko Haram insurgents in the Visik area of Hong Local Government Area.
According to the release, the suspect is currently in custody assisting with useful information. Items recovered from him include one AK-47 magazine with rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
“On Thursday, troops of Sector 4 under 28 Task Force Brigade apprehended 28-year-old Ismail Muhammed, a terrorist logistics supplier, in the Visik general area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
Items recovered from the suspect included one AK-47 magazine, rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, military accoutrements, and assorted foodstuffs. The suspect is currently in custody undergoing further investigation,” Lt. Col. Uba stated.
Furthermore, the statement revealed that another terrorist commander, Abdullahi Mafa, was neutralized during an encounter with troops around the Visik River in Madagali Local Government Area. One AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine was recovered from the slain insurgent.
In a related development, another alleged terrorist collaborator, Dauda Usman Gubula, 64, was arrested by troops at a motor park in Madagali town with incriminating items, including two aerial drones, drone accessories, and 20 units of solar power banks.
“Troops, acting on further intelligence, arrested 64-year-old Dauda Usman Gubula, a terrorist collaborator and drone supplier responsible for providing drones to the insurgents, which are subsequently locally armed and used against troops.
He was arrested at Madagali Motor Park. Recovered items included two aerial drones, drone accessories, and 20 solar power banks.
Troops continue to intensify efforts to dismantle the insurgents’ supply networks,” the statement added.
