Insecurity:Amana City Residents Urge Kano Government’s Intervention

The Amana City Residents Development Association has appealed to the Kano State Government to address the security challenges bedevilling the estate.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Director Public Enlightenment of the state Ministry of Housing Development, Malam Adamu Abdullahi.
Abdullahi said the Chairman of the association, CP Abdullahi Sani(retired), made the call when executive members of the association paid a courtesy visit to the state Commissioner of Housing Development,Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, at his office.
CP Sani(retired) disclosed that the security of the city deteriorated when the State Government issued directive to all unauthorised occupants of houses in the city to vacate them.
He explained that most of the occupants of the city are vigilantes,and therefore called for government’s prompt intervention in the matter.
While congratulating the Commissioner on his appointment and successful execution of his duties,the Chairman also appealed to the government to allocate the houses and direct for immediate occupation as a way of addressing the problem.
He pointed out that the association has data of all residents of the city, which makes it easier for it to monitor their activities.
He also urged the government through the Commissioner to assist the residents of the city to overcome the problem of power outage in the area.
Retired CP Sani then called for the erection of streetlights in all the major roads to enhance security in the estate.
He then urged the commissioner to check the cultivation of farmlands within the city.
Responding,the commissioner stressed the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens.
He assured the association that the government would collaborate with security agencies in the state to address the insecurity in the city.
Arc Adamu also stated that the ministry is ready to partner with the association to achieve the desired goals of transforming the mega cities to meet international standards.
He also assured that the issue of allocation of the houses is receiving urgent attention from the government, saying that very soon action would be taken and would be favourable to both residents of the city and the allottees.
