The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Olufemi Oluyede, has directed troops to sustain relentless, intelligence-driven operations against terrorists and other criminal elements, while reaffirming that troops’ welfare remains critical to Nigeria’s success in tackling insecurity.
This was disclosed in a statement signed and shared on X by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Apollonia Anele, on Friday.
According to Anele, the COAS gave the directive while addressing troops at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps and the 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks in Bauchi.
He charged troops to maintain a high level of operational readiness and intensify efforts to decisively engage and neutralise terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements within their areas of responsibility.
He noted that the activities of these groups have led to the displacement of innocent citizens, reiterating the Army’s resolve to restore lasting peace and stability across affected communities.
The COAS also reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of troops and their families, stressing that a motivated and well-supported force is essential for operational success.
He assured that deliberate measures would continue to be implemented to boost morale, enhance efficiency, and improve overall combat effectiveness.
He further paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Suleiman Adamu, where he commended the Emir’s support to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
He assured that efforts are ongoing to eliminate banditry and all forms of criminality, while calling for sustained collaboration between the military and host communities.
