The former Governor of Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has lost his Mother Hajiya Umma El-Rufai today.
Her death was announced on Friday by her grandson in a Facebook post.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came and to Him we shall all return. I wish to inform the public of the passing of my grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who died a few hours ago,” he stated.
He confirmed that the deceased was the biological mother of El-Rufai and prayed for the repose of her soul.
“We are grateful for the life she lived. May Allah SWT grant her eternal rest and forgive her shortcomings. On behalf of the family, we ask for your prayers. Thank you,” he added.
Details surrounding her death were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
The development comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving El-Rufai, who is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) following his re-arrest after an earlier detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
