Kano State recorded an impressive performance on Day Two of the 3rd National Para Games, winning a total of seven medals across different events.
In para taekwondo, Kano athletes secured one gold and two silver medals. Abdullahi Muhammad Lubiya clinched the state’s first gold medal in the 65kg category after defeating a Lagos State opponent in the final. Musa Bala added a silver medal following his final bout against a Rivers State athlete, while Aliyu Abubakar Iliyasu also won silver in the para taekwondo poomsae category.
Kano continued its strong showing in para karate, winning three more medals—one gold, one silver, and one bronze. Halimatul Sadiya Japheth won gold in the K10 wheelchair category. Lawan Bashir secured silver in the K30 category after losing to an Abia State opponent in the final, while Jamilu Hussaini Mohammed claimed bronze in the K30 wheelchair category.
The state also added another silver medal in para powerlifting.
In para soccer, Kano State defeated Rivers State 3–0. Ibrahim Tara opened the scoring in the 40th minute, while Sani Gimba netted twice in the 45th and 50th minutes to seal the victory.
The achievements recorded so far are expected to motivate Kano athletes to continue making the state proud as the games progress.
