Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have neutralized several terrorists and recovered arms during coordinated clearance operations in Plateau State
In a statement issued by the Chinonso Oteh, the media Information Officer of Operation Enduring Peace, explained that the offensive conducted under Operation WUTAN DAJI, targeted criminal elements operating in Daba and Seri villages within Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
Military sources disclosed that at about 8:30 a.m. on April 9, 2026, troops established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest, a known transit route for terrorist groups. During the operation, a large number of armed terrorists on motorcycles were sighted advancing along the corridor and were immediately engaged.
The troops responded with superior and coordinated firepower, overwhelming the attackers despite initial resistance. At least 10 terrorists were neutralized, while several others fled into nearby forests with gunshot wounds.
In a separate development, troops swiftly responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu axis. On sighting security forces, the assailants retreated into surrounding areas, prompting an aggressive pursuit.
Subsequent cordon-and-search operations were conducted in Suma Suga and Takwok villages, extending into nearby mountainous terrain. The exercise led to the recovery of items abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
Recovered exhibits include three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and five 25-litre jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, believed to be intended for terrorist logistics. Troops also recovered a National Identity Card and a photograph linked to suspected members of the group, which are expected to support ongoing investigations.
Military authorities described the operation as a significant success in degrading the operational capacity of armed groups in the area. Troops remain on high alert and are continuing efforts to track down fleeing suspects and their collaborators.
They assured that Operation ENDURING PEACE will sustain intensified clearance operations across identified flashpoints to ensure the protection of lives and property in Plateau State.
