Some stakeholders from Akko Local Government Area of Gombe on Tuesday reaffirmed their support for Sen. Danjuma Goje, representing Gombe Central Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber.
NAN reports that the stakeholders, led by Prof. Muhammad Yahaya, outlining their collective views on political representation, party unity and leadership continuity in the state.
Yahaya, while presenting the memorandum, reiterated the stakeholders’ loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He also expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, pledging continued support for his administration and its national development agenda.
Yahaya, who is of the Federal University of Kashere, described Goje as a symbol of experience, effective leadership and strong grassroots connection, stressing that his track record had justified his continuity in office.
According to him, the senator’s years of service have translated into tangible development and strong advocacy for the people, adding that his popularity remains widely acknowledged across the senatorial district.
While maintaining that legislative continuity was essential for sustained development, he noted that experience, institutional knowledge and political influence were equally critical in attracting federal projects and ensuring effective representation.
Yahaya cited APC’s performance in the 2023 general elections in the state, where it lost two senatorial seats and five out of six House of Representatives seats, with only Gombe senatorial district by Goje.
Also speaking, a grassroots politician, Alhaji Abubakar Pindiga, highlighted what he called the former governor’s enduring popularity.
Pindiga recalled that Goje’s constituents once resisted his attempt to step away from politics and even threatened legal action to keep him in office.
“That alone shows the level of confidence people have in his leadership,” he said, adding that the senator played a key role in the political rise of the Gov. Inuwa Yahaya.
He warned that the ongoing internal disputes within APC could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 general elections and create opportunities for opposition parties to gain ground.
NAN reports that another group of stakeholders from Akko local government, alongside some traditional leaders, had, on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to the governor, reaffirming their loyalty.
During that visit, the member representing Akko Federal Constituency, Usman Bello, stated that in the spirit of fairness, Akko should support Yamaltu/Deba which had backed its senatorial ambition for over 16 years.
NAN also reports that Gombe Central senatorial district constitutes two local governments – Akko and Yamaltu/Deba, with Goje hailing from Akko.
