The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its state congress with the election of new party executives through a consensus arrangement conducted peacefully on Saturday.
The State Congress, chaired by Ambassador Babagana Ajimi, took place at the Mahmud Ribadu Square, where he called for the dissolution of the outgoing State Executive Council of the party, followed by a motion to that effect.
The Majority Leader of the State Assembly and member representing Demsa State Constituency, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, moved the motion for dissolution, which was seconded by the Chairman of Toungo Local Government Area, Hon. Suleiman Ahmed Gangkuba. This formally brought the tenure of the previous state executive to an end.
Senator Grace Jackson Bent subsequently moved a motion for the adoption of a consensus arrangement for the congress, in line with the party’s constitution. The motion was seconded by the former Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly and member representing Guyuk State Constituency, Hon. Sunday Peter.
Following the motions, Ambassador Ajimi sought the approval of delegates through a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly affirmed with a chorus of “Yes, we agree.”
He then announced the new state executives, with Hamza Bello Madagali emerging as State Chairman, Dr. Raymond Chindama as Vice Chairman, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu as Secretary, and Bature Moses as Assistant Secretary. Others include Victor Dogo as Publicity Secretary and Dedan Raymond as Youth Leader, among others.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the successful conduct of the ward, local government, and state congresses signified full political integration within the APC and positioned the party for victory in the 2027 elections.
He described the development as a political evolution, noting that the party had transitioned into what he termed a “full fusion” of political structures across all levels.
Fintiri emphasized that political integration requires sacrifice and compromise, adding that although not all stakeholders may have achieved their individual expectations, “no one is a loser” in the process.
He noted that the smooth conduct of the congresses reflected the political maturity of party stakeholders and a shared commitment to strengthening the party’s structure in the state.
The governor cautioned against attempts to impose candidates, stating that such tendencies would give way to hardworking politicians seeking a fair playing field. He urged members to remain focused and vigilant against undemocratic tendencies.
Fintiri also announced the formation of a new political platform, the Adamawa Renewed Hope 226 Movement (ARH226M), describing it as a grassroots mobilisation structure covering all 226 wards in the state.
He said the movement would be formally inaugurated in the coming week, with leadership structures from ward to state level, aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates ahead of future elections.
The governor called on all APC support groups in the state to align with the new movement to ensure a unified mobilisation strategy.
He acknowledged that some disagreements arose during the alignment process but maintained that all parties involved ultimately emerged as winners, stressing that Adamawa is now firmly under APC control.
Fintiri congratulated the newly elected executives, describing the congress as the beginning of a renewed political phase for the party in the state.
In his acceptance speech, the new State Chairman, Hamza Bello Madagali, expressed gratitude to God and the delegates for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to operate an open-door policy that would accommodate all members.
Madagali urged aspirants to conduct their campaigns with respect and dignity, warning that campaigns of calumny would not be tolerated and would attract sanctions.
“Under my leadership, there will be no favouritism. We will be transparent, and all members must respect the supremacy of the party. I am committed to an open-door policy for everyone,” he assured.
