The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, former Chairman of the and founder of Kano Pillars Football Club who died on Saturday, 18 April , 2026. in after a prolonged illness.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Adamu Aminu, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister disclosed that Hon. Ata described the late Galadima as a committed sports administrator whose contributions to football development in Nigeria remain significant and enduring.
He noted that Galadima’s leadership helped strengthen institutional structures within Nigerian football and promoted grassroots talent development.
Minister Ata said the late administrator’s role in establishing Kano Pillars provided a platform for nurturing young athletes and advancing the state’s reputation in national football.
He added that Galadima’s service reflected dedication to both sport and community development.
The minister also extended condolences to the government and people of Kano State, the Galadima family and the broader football community across the nation.
He urged stakeholders in the sports sector to sustain the values of discipline, commitment and institutional growth that the late administrator represented.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and for strength and comfort for his family and associates during this period of mourning.
Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima served as chairman of the Nigeria Football Association and played a key role in the development of football administration in Nigeria over several decades.
