The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ex-Councillors has commended Abba Kabir Yusuf for nominating Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor, describing the move as strategic and well-considered.
In a press statement issued after a consultative meeting to review recent political developments, the forum said the governor’s decision demonstrates a commitment to competence-driven governance and administrative stability.
The group, comprising former councillors from all 44 local government areas, praised the nomination for prioritizing experience, loyalty, and grassroots connection—qualities it said are critical to effective governance and public trust.
According to the forum, Garo has a strong track record in public service, party administration, and political coordination, positioning him to effectively support the governor in advancing the state’s development agenda.
“The nomination is timely and reflects a clear understanding of aligning leadership capacity with the expectations of the people,” the statement read.
The forum added that the decision reinforces continuity, institutional strength, and inclusive governance, noting that Garo’s experience would enhance executive coordination and service delivery.
While endorsing the nomination, the group called on party members, stakeholders, and the public to support the governor’s decision in the interest of unity, stability, and sustained development. It also urged political actors to prioritize collective progress over personal interests.
The statement was signed by Sunusi Kata Madobi, Chairman of the Forum of APC Ex-Councillors, on April 22, 2026.
