The Aky Go Again Sabon Gari Chapter and National Metron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ambassador Adesuwa O. Udo, has extended profound appreciation to Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the commissioning of the newly renamed Remi Tinubu Road in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government, Kano State.
The event, which took place on Wednesday, coincided with the First Lady’s official visit to Kano for the launch of the Energize Commercialization Now Initiative, a flagship programme of the Federal Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology. During the visit, the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, commissioned several major infrastructural development projects—including the strategic road formerly known as Sarkin Yaki Road, now renamed in honour of the First Lady.
Speaking at the commissioning, Ambassador Adesuwa described the road reconstruction as a transformative intervention for the densely populated commercial hub. “This road is a vital artery linking Sabon Gari to other parts of Kano. Her Excellency’s gesture, coupled with the state government’s commitment to rehabilitation, will ease transportation, boost trade, and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents,” she said.
Ambassador Adesuwa also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what she called his “giant strides in capital and infrastructural development,” noting that the Remi Tinubu Road project exemplifies responsive governance.
In a remarkable exchange of accolades, Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended Ambassador Adesuwa for her unwavering commitment and philanthropic work through her Els Empowerment Foundation. The First Lady described Adesuwa as “a woman of integrity and the kind of leader Nigeria desperately needs.”
Governor Yusuf also acknowledged Ambassador Adesuwa’s significant contributions to youth and women empowerment across Kano State, as well as her steadfast support for his administration. He particularly applauded her recent 30-day Ramadan feeding programme, which provided meals to vulnerable families throughout the holy month.
The commissioning ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including Hon. Sheyi, APC Youth Leader of Sabon Gari, senior government officials, and representatives of the media.
