The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has expressed deep concern over rising insecurity, poor road infrastructure, and the need for credible leadership ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
This was contained In a communiqué signed the ECWA President, Rev Dr.Job Ayuba Bagat Malan and the general Secretary, Rev. Dr.Ayuba Asheshe and issued at the end of the four-day meeting, at the headquarters conference hall, the the Church addressed key national and ecclesiastical issues, calling for urgent action by government and citizens alike.
On insecurity, the Council lamented the persistent killings and kidnappings across the country, describing the situation as unacceptable and alarming.
“The continued loss of lives and destruction of property underscore the apparent inadequacy of effective government protection,” the communiqué stated.
The Church stressed that insecurity, now prevalent across all six geopolitical zones, demands “decisive, coordinated, and measurable action,” urging all levels of government to intensify efforts in safeguarding lives and property.
It also encouraged citizens to strengthen community vigilance and mutual support.
Addressing the state of national infrastructure, ECWA acknowledged government efforts but decried the poor condition of roads nationwide.
“The deteriorating condition of roads… continues to pose significant risks to lives and property, while also impeding economic productivity,” the Council noted.
It called for urgent and transparent rehabilitation and maintenance of critical road networks to boost safety and economic growth.
On the 2027 general elections, the Council urged members to participate actively in the democratic process, emphasizing the importance of credible leadership.
“All eligible members should ensure that they are duly registered and participate actively in the electoral process,” the communiqué read.
The Church further encouraged individuals with the capacity for leadership to engage in politics responsibly, warning that the absence of principled leaders contributes to poor governance.
It also charged electoral bodies to uphold integrity and transparency while advising citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding before, during, and after the elections.
Earlier, the Council appreciated the Federal Government for appointing some ECWA members into ministerial positions, describing it as a recognition of their competence and integrity.
“This gesture reflects confidence in their capacity for national service,” the Council said, while praying for wisdom and diligence in their service to the nation.
The meeting, which drew delegates from 96 District Church Councils across Nigeria and the diaspora, also deliberated on church growth, governance, and mission expansion.
ECWA however called on its members to remain steadfast in faith and unity while contributing to national peace and development.
