The Kano State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed Hon. Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor, following his nomination by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Assembly’s spokesperson, Kamaludden Sani Shawai.
Garo’s confirmation followed the submission of a report by a 12-member ad hoc committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Bello Muhammad Butubutua, during plenary presided over by Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore.
The committee, constituted after the governor forwarded Garo’s nomination to the House, reported that the nominee was duly screened and found qualified for the position.
Presenting the report, Butubutua said the panel assessed Garo’s academic credentials, professional experience, and personal background in line with established legislative procedures.
The House subsequently adopted the committee’s recommendations, with lawmakers unanimously affirming Garo as fit to serve as Deputy Governor of the state.
Speaker Falgore thereafter announced the Assembly’s approval, clearing the way for Governor Yusuf to administer the oath of office.
The confirmation concludes the legislative process initiated by the governor’s request for the screening and approval of the nominee.
