A Kano North Senatorial Aspirant, Engr Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo popularly known as ATM Gwarzo, has criticized the delay in completing the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road project, describing it as a sign of weak representation and poor oversight.
Engr Gwarzo said the road, considered vital for economic activities and the movement of people across the zone, has remained unfinished more than five years after it was first approved by the Federal Executive Council.
According to him, the project received approval under a previous administration and was later reaffirmed by the current government, yet construction has not been completed.
“The continued delay raises serious concerns about the quality of representation and commitment to delivering development,” Gwarzo said in a statement in his verified Facebook page.
He argued that the slow pace of work has affected livelihoods in Kano North, where the road serves as a key link for trade and transportation.
Gwarzo also challenged the incumbent senator Barau Jibrin to explain the reasons behind the delay and called for greater accountability in the execution of federal projects.
He pledged that if given the opportunity to represent the district, he would prioritize oversight of government projects to ensure timely completion and proper use of public funds.
“Kano North cannot continue to endure this level of negligence on critical infrastructure,” he said.
Efforts to reach senator Barau for comment were not immediately successful.
