The newly sworn-in Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has pledged loyalty and commitment to the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, promising to support policies aimed at advancing the state’s development.
Garo made the pledge on Tuesday during his inauguration ceremony which was held at the Kano State Government House, describing the occasion as a memorable event in his life and in the journey of the current administration.
He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to witness the moment, noting that his emergence comes with a deep sense of responsibility and dedication to public service.
The Deputy Governor thanked Governor Yusuf for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he would justify the trust by working closely with the Governor to deliver meaningful progress for the people of Kano State.
“I accept this responsibility as a call to serve and to support your leadership in advancing the development of Kano State,” he said.

Garo also commended the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirming his nomination, acknowledging the role of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, and members of the Assembly in the process.
Notable dignitaries at the occasion included former Governors of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Malam Ibrahim Shekarau; former Deputy Governors, Abdullahi T. Gwarzo and Professor Hafizu Abubakar; the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin; Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Hon. Abba Kabir Bichi; his counterpart from Doguwa/Tudunwada Federal Constituency, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa; and the State APC Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, all the 4 Emira of the State among several other prominent personalities.

Addressing the people of the state, the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of teamwork and continuity in governance, noting that the administration’s Kano First Agenda provides a clear roadmap for development.
“My role is to support this ambition and ensure that government policies deliver real results for our people,” he stated.

He further appreciated the support of traditional rulers, community leaders, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as youth and women across the state for their continued backing.
Reaffirming his loyalty, the Deputy Governor assured Governor Yusuf of his full cooperation, pledging to contribute to the success of the administration.
He called on residents of Kano State to sustain their support and prayers, stressing that collective effort remains key to moving the state forward.
In a related development, shortly after the inauguration, the delegation proceeded to Gwarzo Local Government Area where Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Governor and also ex-APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, presented him with a membership card during the event.
Garo concluded with prayers for divine guidance and protection in service, as well as peace and progress for Kano State and Nigeria.
