Kano State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to the family of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Gwani Tahir, who passed away on Friday at the age of 80.
The late cleric was widely respected for his contributions to Islamic scholarship and community development in Kano State.
Sheikh Ibrahim Gwani Tahir is survived by children, grandchildren, and other family members. Among his children is Yusuf Ibrahim Gwani, a former staff member of the BBC who currently works with TRT World.
Also among the family members is Sheikh Hadi Gwani Tahir, the Commissioner for Sharia Commission I in Kano State, who is known for reciting the Qur’an alongside Sheikh Karibullah during Tafsir sessions at the Kano Emir’s Palace.
During the visit, the Deputy Governor prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and asked Allah to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
