FFS Kano Command,Kano State Fire Service Contain Fire Outbreak At Jigilawa Motors

The Federal Fire Service, through its Federal Secretariat Fire Station, swiftly responded to and contained a fire outbreak at Jigilawa Motors, adjacent to Mumbayya House, on Monday.

Federal Fire Service, Kano Command,said the distress call was received at about 0900hrs and firefighters immediately mobilised to the scene.
Kantin said the incident involved a one-storey residential building covering an estimated area of about 33 metres by 33 metres. On arrival, the fire was found to have affected four rooms on the upper floor.
He said firefighting operations commenced promptly, and the blaze was successfully confined to the affected section, preventing further spread to other parts of the building and adjoining properties.
According to him, the fire was extinguished using two medium jets of water, and that a subsequent inspection of the scene confirmed that the situation had been brought fully under control, with no further trace of fire.
Preliminary assessment showed that property worth about ₦16 million was saved, while losses were estimated at about ₦4 million.
“The Federal Fire Service acknowledges the support and presence of the Kano State Fire Service during the emergency operation.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electric spark. As such, members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and ensure regular inspection of electrical installations to prevent avoidable fire incidents,” the statement added.
