The Adamawa state government in partnership with Sparrow Mobility limited has launched a EV Assembly plant and rollout of electric tricycles in Adamawa state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state while at the launching of the electric Mobility initiative in Yola said that, the occasion marks not only unveiling of the new initiative but the beginning of a transformational journey that would redefine energy access, economic opportunity and transportation across the state.
Governor Fintiri went down to history lane highlighting that, the state in 2025 took a strategic step onto the global investment stage when it participated in an Investor Roundtable convened by the Rural Electrification Agency.
Fintiri noted that, the platform provided the state with a unique opportunity to present immense potentials it has and to call on forward-thinking investors to partner with us in unlocking it.
According to him,It was at that Roundtable that they initiated a pivotal engagement with the leadership of A4&T Group.
“I recall clearly the commitment made by the Group CEO—to return to his Board and give serious consideration to Adamawa State as a priority destination for investment. Today, we are proud to say that this was not a mere promise—it was the beginning of a partnership built on trust, vision, and execution.
“Following that engagement, the Government of Adamawa State entered into a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding with A4&T Group—an agreement centered on energizing our state through investments in mini-grids, commercial and industrial solar solutions, and clean mobility infrastructure.
” This partnership was designed to address one of our most pressing challenges: access to reliable, sustainable energy for our people and businesses.
“The results are already visible. As of today, over 6,000 households across Song, Lamurde, Jada, Fufore, Demsa, Numan, Shelleng, and Hong Local Government Areas have been energized through the deployment of Solar Home Systems.
In his remarks, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the A4 & T Group,Ayodeji Ademilua expressed gratitude for the opportunity his company has in doing business with the Adamawa state government.
Ademilua said his company at an initial investor scoping exercise toured communities and engaged stakeholders where they found the potentials and richness of the state.
Ademilua said when his group found out that the state government was genuinely committed to development and innovaions.a memorandum of understanding was signed between the duo for several strategic investments aimed at energizing communities and businesses across the state through clean and sustainable energy solutions.
“We also committed to introducing an affordable green transportation system that would improve mobility, reduce transportation costs, and significantly lower carbon emissions across the state.
“Part of that commitment was the establishment of an Electric Vehicle Assembly Plant here in Adamawa State, beginning with the assembly of electric motorcycles and electric tricycles—because during our assessment, we identified tricycles and motorcycles as the major means of transportation for thousands of people across the state.
“Today, exactly one year after our first visit, we are proud to stand before you with tangible results. The electric tricycles being unveiled today were assembled right here in Yola by our e-mobility subsidiary, Sparrow Mobility Ltd. This is more than an industrial achievement—it is the beginning of a new economic and technological ecosystem for Adamawa State.
“These vehicles represent innovation, sustainability, affordability, and opportunity”. Ademilua stressed.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Transport Development, Wunfe Anthony, said the launch of the electric mobility initiative would significantly reduce operational costs for tricycle operators and improve transportation across the state.
She added that the partnership between the Ministry of Transport Development and the company had continued to produce positive outcomes in the transport sector.
