The United Nations Children’s Fund Borno Field Office paid a scheduled visit to the office of the Education Secretary, Nguru Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Alhaji Hamisu Ado.
The visit formed part of a specialist assessment tour to the LGEA.
During the visit, led by Education Specialist, Dr. Yusuf Isma’il, the delegation toured participating schools benefiting from the support of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Shortly after the inspection, the team held a town hall meeting with the Chairman of the Nguru Local Government School-Based Management Committee, Alhaji Laminu Mustapha, the Education Secretary, Alhaji Hamisu Ado, master trainers, as well as members of the Nguru Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Taskforce.
The team commended stakeholders for their commitment and efforts toward improving education across the locality.
According to the delegation, “We are here to receive feedback on UNICEF-supported FLN programmes in Nguru LGA, Yobe State.”
The team added that, “We are fully satisfied with the learning outcomes of the pupils visited.”
Responding, the Education Secretary, Alhaji Hamisu Ado, appreciated the support provided by UNICEF.
“Like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more,” Ado stated.
