From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
Elders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State have declared unwavering support for the administration of Governor Uba Sani, while dismissing circulating reports concerning the LGA as “insinuations, allegations, and false information.”
Speaking during a press briefing in Kaduna, Professor Dauda Ishaya, who spoke on behalf of the Ikara Elders Forum and APC stakeholders, said the delegation convened to “clear the air” and publicly reaffirm its position.
“We are here purposely to indicate our profound gratitude and total support for the administration of Uba Sani in Kaduna State and the entire government of Kaduna State,” Ishaya said.
He stressed that elders, stakeholders, and residents of Ikara were united in supporting every decision taken by the state government, particularly those affecting the local government and the APC structure in the area.
“We want to tell the people categorically that the entire people of Ikara Local Government Area, including elders and stakeholders, are in full support of every decision taken by the Kaduna State Government, and we will continue to stand firmly behind those decisions by the grace of God,” he added.
Rebuttal of Conflicting Reports
Ishaya acknowledged that varying accounts of developments in Ikara had been circulating, noting that many of the claims were misleading and lacked credibility.
“As you have heard, there are different versions of stories going around, especially concerning the affairs of Ikara Local Government Area and what is happening there. Some of these reports are mere insinuations, allegations, and false information. If proper investigations are carried out, the truth will become clear,” he said.
According to the forum, the briefing became necessary to prevent the public from being left “in confusion and darkness.”
Government Projects Highlighted
To demonstrate the impact of the state government in the area, Ishaya highlighted key interventions executed in Ikara.
He said the General Hospital in Ikara, which was previously in poor condition, had been transformed into a modern healthcare facility comparable to national standards.
He also pointed to the resolution of persistent water shortages in rural communities after concerns were raised with the state government and the local council chairman.
“If you interview people in the rural communities of Ikara Local Government Area, they will tell you how severe the water shortage used to be. But when we complained to the government and our honourable chairman, immediate action was taken, and the situation was addressed. Today, the issue of water scarcity in Ikara has become a thing of the past,” he stated.
“If I want to mention everything the government has done in Ikara Local Government Area, I may not finish talking about it,” Ishaya added.
Call for Unity and Cooperation
The elders said their collective appearance at the briefing reflected the unity among stakeholders in the area, which they attributed to the cooperation fostered by the state government.
“As elders, we are united, and that is why we are here together in one accord. Without unity, it would not have been possible to gather this calibre of elders together to openly show support for the government,” Ishaya said.
He maintained that the visit was intended to demonstrate the loyalty of Ikara people and encourage sustained collaboration between the government and grassroots leaders.
“We want the government to know that we have come here to show our total support, and we hope the government will appreciate what the elders, stakeholders, and people of Ikara Local Government Area have done today,” he said.
The Ikara delegation reaffirmed its continued support for the administration of Governor Uba Sani and the APC structure in Kaduna State.
