The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, in company of his deputy, Alh. Murtala Sule Garo, alongside top government officials, have congratulated Muslims in Kano State and beyond on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Gov. Yusuf made the remarks shortly after observing Eid prayer at the Eid Ground located at Kofar Mata in Kano on Wednesday.
Governor Yusuf described Eid-el-Kabir as a significant period that teaches the values of sacrifice, obedience, patience and compassion, urging Muslims to uphold the lessons and teachings of the holy festival in their daily lives.
The Governor called on residents of Kano State to celebrate the Sallah period peacefully, avoid acts capable of disrupting public peace and continue to demonstrate love, tolerance and mutual respect toward one another.
He also urged parents and guardians to caution their children against reckless behaviour during the festivities, while appealing to youths across the state to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Governor Yusuf further encouraged citizens to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity and continued development in Kano State and Nigeria.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people and ensuring sustainable development across the state.
He also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and fellow governors across the country on the occasion of the Eid celebration.
Highlights of the Governor’s activities during the Eid celebration included a visit to the Kano State Council of Emirs Chamber popularly known as Gidan Shattima as part of the traditional Sallah homage observed after Eid prayers, where the Emir of Kano receives well-wishers before retiring to his palace.
Governor Yusuf later proceeded to the Dandolo cemetery, where he offered prayers for the repose of the soul of his late father, Alhaji Kabir Yusuf, and prayed for departed Muslims across the state and the country.
The Governor wished Muslims a peaceful, successful and memorable Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
