The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has assured citizens that Plateau State is gradually overcoming its challenges and moving steadily toward peace, unity, and development.
In a statewide broadcast to mark his third anniversary in office, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support and confidence in his administration over the past three years.
The Governor acknowledged the security and economic challenges facing the state, including attacks on communities, displacement of residents, and institutional decline, but said his administration remained committed to restoring peace and rebuilding affected communities.
He paid tribute to victims of violent attacks across Plateau State and assured affected communities that government would continue working with security agencies to restore stability and resettle displaced persons.
Governor Mutfwang also explained that the administration had revitalised Operation Rainbow and recruited over two thousand community volunteers to strengthen intelligence gathering and community security operations.
According to him, government has also established an Emergency Communications Centre with a toll-free line and introduced modern surveillance equipment, including drones and CCTV cameras, to improve security monitoring.
On infrastructure and development, the Governor said his administration had cleared inherited salary arrears and committed over sixteen billion naira to the payment of pensions and gratuities.
He stated that the Tin City Metro Transport Service has eased transportation within Jos and Bukuru metropolis, while new partnerships with airlines are expected to improve air travel to Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang said his administration reduced tuition fees by fifty percent for Plateau indigenes in state-owned tertiary institutions and increased scholarship funding by three hundred percent.
He added that over three hundred and ninety-seven classrooms had been constructed, while several others were renovated across the state through educational intervention programmes.
In the health sector, the Governor disclosed that the Plateau State Specialist Hospital had been upgraded with modern laboratory equipment worth two billion naira and additional consultants recruited to improve healthcare delivery.
Speaking on agriculture, Governor Mutfwang said government had recovered over one thousand six hundred hectares of abandoned farmland and distributed subsidised fertilisers, seedlings, and agrochemicals to farmers.
He further revealed that more than five hundred kilometres of roads had been asphalted across the state, while additional road projects were ongoing in different local government areas.
Governor Mutfwang appealed to citizens to continue living peacefully with one another, stressing that Plateau belongs to all law-abiding residents regardless of ethnic or religious background.
He warned that his administration would not tolerate attacks, reprisals, cattle rustling, destruction of farmlands, or any activity capable of threatening peace and security in the state.
The Governor also reaffirmed government’s commitment to enforcing the ban on motorcycle operations within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis in the interest of public safety and environmental protection.
Governor Mutfwang thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting Plateau State and appreciated traditional rulers, community leaders, and citizens for their cooperation.
He expressed optimism that Plateau State was on the path to greater peace, development, and prosperity, urging citizens to continue supporting government efforts toward rebuilding the state.
