Plateau Dep. Governor applauds nurses for roles in healthcare

Plateau State Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, has applauded the role of nurses in the society which she said has significantly impacted patient’s health outcomes due to their unique position in the healthcare system.
Piyo, in a statement signed by Martha Nyam, her Chief Press Secretary, on Monday in Jos, said nurses offer patients with quality care and expert health guidance and play a critical role in the patient’s experience, offering them hope and support during difficult times.
“Nurses play an essential role in society today by being advocates for health promotion, educating the public and patients on preventing injury and illnesses, participating in rehabilitation, and providing care and support.
“I regard nursing to be one of the most important professions known to man as nurses are hailed as the true heroes of healthcare, often placing their own comforts after the needs of patients they care for day in and day out.
“You are not just nurses but nurses who are focused on the word of God, there are no words to explain how important your role is, as you care for patients and also preach the word of God to them, building their faith, while also creating a safe environment for healing to take place.
The Deputy Governor who received the delegation on behalf of the state Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, promised that the present administration would ensure that the nursing profession is lifted to enviable heights in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman, Fellowship of Christian Nurses, Plateau State Chapter, Evang. Abalis Dasat, said that the aim of the fellowship is to equip and build the capacities of nurses and other health workers to be able to care for the total man (spirit, soul & body).
Dasat added that the mission, vision, activities and programmes of the fellowship is to seek to advance the kingdom of God while rendering care through collaboration with government and other relevant agencies for sustainable development.
The Deputy Governor also received the Plateau State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Alphonsus Godwin and his entourage, applauding them also for their contribution towards ensuring safer highways in the state.
She assured the Corps of government’s commitment to providing adequate support to them to be able to deliver on their mission to reducing the number of road accidents and deaths.
