The Kano State Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Dahiru Muhammad Hashim, has said the newly inaugurated Renewed Hope Youth Engagement in the state is aimed at building a disciplined and organised political structure.
He made this known on Friday during the inauguration of the Kano State chapter of the initiative held at the Government House in Kano.
According to him, the platform is not just another political group, but a strategic effort to mobilise young people and strengthen their participation in governance.
“Today, we are not merely unveiling another political organisation; we are establishing a disciplined and strategic grassroots machinery,” he said.
Hashim explained that the initiative would serve as a platform for youth mobilisation, civic engagement, political education and participation in elections.
He stressed that young people play a major role in shaping the country’s political direction, noting that they make up a large percentage of voters.
“Youth constitute the largest demographic group in our country and they influence public discourse and electoral outcomes,” he said.
The commissioner also highlighted the role of young people in the current administration, noting that many youths have been given opportunities to serve in different sectors of government in Kano State.
He called on members of the newly inaugurated structure to remain active in their communities and promote peaceful political engagement.
“Let us mobilise with wisdom, engage with civility, and campaign based on facts, performance, and vision,” he urged.
The event was attended by the Honourable Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, the National Coordinator of Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, Honourable Abdulaziz Kaka, state coordinators from Plateau, Bauchi, Kaduna and Kwara States, zonal coordinators, local government and ward coordinators, as well as senior government officials and members of the project’s technical team.
