The Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) has officially announced the University of Calabar (UNICAL) as host of the 28th NUGA Games, scheduled to hold from November 14–24, 2026.
The Games are expected to bring together approximately 95 universities and over 10,000 athletes, coaches, administrators, volunteers, and spectators from across Nigeria for competition in 24 sports.
The University of Calabar has reaffirmed its commitment to sports development, talent discovery, and infrastructure improvement as preparations continue towards hosting the nation’s premier university sporting event.
NUGA President, Prof. Bawa Mohammed, described the Games as an opportunity to showcase talent, promote unity, and strengthen the development of university sports across Nigeria.
The 28th NUGA Games is expected to deliver not only exciting sporting action but also lasting benefits for student-athletes, host communities, and the university sports ecosystem.
