The ongoing inspection of major federal government projects in Kano State under the Arewa Media Summit continued with a visit to the Kano Northern Bypass, a strategic road project expected to transform transportation and economic activities in the state.
The media tour was organised by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, to give journalists and media influencers first-hand information on key infrastructure projects being implemented by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Kano Northern Bypass, which stretches about 38 kilometres, links the Kano–Hadejia Road with the Kano–Katsina Road. The project is designed to divert heavy-duty trucks away from the Kano metropolis, thereby reducing traffic congestion and improving the movement of people and goods.
Project experts said the bypass would significantly improve transportation efficiency by reducing travel time, lowering the cost of moving goods, and enhancing commercial activities across Kano State.
They added that the road would also stimulate industrial growth, attract private investment, and create employment opportunities, particularly for young people in communities such as Zaura, Dawanau, Tarda and other neighbouring settlements along the corridor.
Organisers of the Arewa Media Summit described the inspection tour as an important initiative aimed at giving media professionals and digital influencers direct access to ongoing federal projects, enabling them to report accurately on infrastructure development across Northern Nigeria.
According to them, factual and evidence-based reporting will strengthen public understanding of the federal government’s development efforts and promote transparency in the implementation of key projects.
The Arewa Media Summit, scheduled for July 6, 2026, at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, is expected to bring together journalists, media influencers, communication experts and other stakeholders to discuss the role of the media in advancing the development of Northern Nigeria.
