Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting Islamic education and moral values while congratulating winners of the Ganduje Foundation Inter-Local Government Qur’anic Recitation Competition (Musabaqa) and urging participants to remain committed to Qur’anic knowledge.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, made the call on Sunday during the grand finale of the five-day competition held at the Ammani Event Centre, Kano, which drew Islamic scholars, teachers, parents, students, dignitaries, and other well-wishers.
Congratulating the winners, Garo encouraged contestants who did not emerge victorious not to be discouraged, stressing that every participant had distinguished themselves through their dedication to the Holy Qur’an.
“You should not be demoralized. This competition should inspire you to further strengthen your dedication and commitment to the Holy Qur’an,” he said.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that the essence of the Musabaqa extends beyond winning trophies, noting that the greatest achievement is to live according to the teachings and guidance of the Holy Qur’an.
“Be good ambassadors of Islam. Be trustworthy, loyal, and considerate wherever you find yourselves,” he advised.
He described the Holy Qur’an as the divine guidance revealed by Almighty Allah for the benefit of mankind, adding that those who adhere to its teachings would enjoy Allah’s blessings in this life and in the Hereafter.
According to him, the Musabaqa has become more than a competition, serving as a platform for nurturing discipline, patience, perseverance, exemplary character, and unwavering devotion to Islam.
Garo also commended parents for investing in the Islamic upbringing of their children and applauded the Founder of the Ganduje Foundation and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, alongside his wife, Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, for sustaining the annual Qur’anic recitation competition, which he said has continued to strengthen Qur’anic education and Islamic values across Kano State.
Earlier, Chairman of the Ganduje Foundation Musabaqa Committee, Rabiu Musa Garko, appreciated the Deputy Governor for representing Governor Yusuf at the event.
He praised the contestants for their impressive performances and expressed confidence that students sponsored by the Ganduje Foundation would emerge among the top performers at the forthcoming National Qur’anic Recitation Competition.
Shortly after the event, the Deputy Governor travelled to Gwarzo, where he served as waliyyi (guardian) and wakili (representative) during the wedding fatiha of the children of Alhaji Sunusi Kutama.

The couples are Zainab Sunusi Kutama and her groom, Muhammad Ghali Usman Kutama; Mariya Sunusi Kutama and her groom, Abdulrahman Saidu Kutama; Nura Sunusi Kutama and his bride, Nafisa Garba Gwarzo and Muhuyidden Sunusi Kutama and his bride Sadiya Gambo Gwarzo.
