The Kofar Wambai Traders’ Football Team emerged champions of the Powerful Cup Tournament after winning the final match played on Sunday evening at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Kofar Wambai secured the prestigious title by defeating Kofar Ruwa 3-0 in a penalty shootout after both teams played to a draw at the end of regulation time.
The Powerful Cup Tournament was organized by Powerful Vehicle Company in collaboration with Luyan to promote unity, friendship, and cordial relationships among traders’ football teams across Kano State.
With the victory, Kofar Wambai received the championship trophy and a cash prize of N500,000, while runners-up Kofar Ruwa were awarded N400,000.
In the third-place playoff, Kwari Market Football Team claimed third position and received N300,000, while Wafa Market Football Team finished fourth and earned N200,000.
In addition to the cash prizes, the tournament organizers presented the competition’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) with a brand-new rechargeable motorcycle. Awards of recognition were also presented to referees, coaches, and other individuals who contributed to the successful organization of the tournament.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Chairman of Powerful Vehicle Company said the tournament was organized to provide a platform for strengthening unity among traders, promoting friendship, and promoting mutual understanding within the business community.
The closing ceremony was attended by government officials, leaders of traders’ associations, community elders, and a large number of supporters, who commended the initiative, noting that it had significantly promoted unity, peaceful coexistence, and stronger relationships among traders across Kano State.
